The opening of the Duque de Lerma Museum is due to the Duquesa viuda de Lerma, who restored the old Hospital de Tavera, joining the property to the Nobility House of Medinaceli.
The building was erected in 1544 by Cardinal Tavera, who was buried at the Hospital's Church and whose sepulchre is a masterpiece by Alonso Berruguete. The museum holds important exhibitions by El Greco and other artists including: Ribera, Berruguete, Tintoretto, Lucas Jordán, Canaletto, Tristán, Sánchez Coello, etc. Opening Times: 10 to 13:30 and 15:30 to 18h
