HISTORY: On 1161 there is mention to "Portellu" in a document by King Alfonso VII, from where some states where donated by the king to the monastery of Santa María de Batres. But the oldest mention to the town of Portillo dates back from 1142, and is found in a document from the Cathedral of Toledo. In the middle of the XVI century, Portillo was considered as a main town from the Kingdom of Toledo, and during the reign of Felipe IV, it was designated as a Ville.
